TalkThis offers free phpBB forum hosting with ads and premium forum services for $64.95 without ads. The free forums have Google ads and a banner ad across the bottom.
Forum Features:
TalkThis hosts your non–threaded forum on their server and supports unlimited posting. The premium accounts are ad free and their service supports multiple forums or categories.
Posting Options:
Since this service utilizes phpBB forum software it includes a good collection of features for posters, including text editing options and personalization tools. It supports the uploading of images and avatars as well as smilies, block quotes, previews, private messaging and email notifications. There are non English language versions available as well.
Administration Tools:
Administrators can edit and delete posts, group members, assign moderators, lock threads and set approval rights. The program can also help compile email lists of members and help with mass emails. However, we could not find an archiving tool, meta tag tools or a calendar.
Protection/Security Features:
This forum program can run profanity filters and supports IP, username and email banning. It can track invalid login attempts and has flood controls to limit bulk spam posting attempts. It would be nice if it had an HTML filter and a spam prevention tool.
